The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraising event supporting Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI), an organization dedicated to fostering inclusion through sports. SOWI provides year-round athletic opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, helping them build confidence, friendships, and skills. The Polar Plunge encourages participants to take an icy dip to raise funds and awareness for SOWI’s mission, creating a fun and energetic community event.

In 2024, the Polar Plunge in La Crosse had a unique opportunity: a media sponsor spot had opened up, creating the perfect chance to bring in fresh support for capturing the energy, excitement, and community spirit of the event. That’s where Elevate Media Group came in. As the official video media partner, Elevate documented the day from start to finish, capturing unforgettable moments and creating a highlight reel that showcases the heart of the plunge. Quality content like this plays a vital role in promoting the event, encouraging participation, and supporting fundraising efforts—and Elevate was proud to help tell that story.

To fill this role, Elevate Media Group (EMG) stepped in through the Elevate Impact Initiative, volunteering as a new official media sponsor. Elevate provided:

HIGHLIGHT VIDEOS
Since 2024, Elevate Media Group has been the dedicated media partner for the Polar Plunge. Every year, EMG brings a team of one professional photographer and two videographers to document the event from multiple angles.
Key aspects of Elevate’s approach include:
Capturing emotional, high-energy moments – focusing on plungers’ expressions, body language, and reactions to the freezing water.
Aerial drone footage – providing unique, breathtaking shots of the crowd and the plunge from above.
Editing a two-minute highlight video – featuring upbeat music, vibrant graphics, and dynamic visuals to create a “pool party” atmosphere, reinforcing the event’s fun and adventurous spirit.
Despite the frigid conditions, Elevate delivers the final edited video and all event photos within a week, ensuring that the Polar Plunge can quickly share and promote their event.
Results
La Crosse Polar Plunge 2025 was a huge success! Thanks to the amazing support from Plungers, Pledgers, volunteers, staff, and sponsors, over $78,000 was raised for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Combined with 2024’s total of more than $110,000, the Polar Plunge continues to make a powerful impact in supporting athletes and health initiatives across the state.
An event of this scale doesn’t happen without an incredible amount of planning, teamwork, and heart. From those running logistics behind the scenes to the volunteers guiding plungers and the community cheering them on—it truly takes everyone.
For the second year in a row, Elevate Media Group was proud to serve as the event’s video media partner. Their team captured the spirit of the plunge—freezing temps, bold jumps, and big smiles—and crafted a highlight reel to help tell the story of the day. This content plays a key role in spreading awareness and building excitement for future events.
